Obituary

Brayden E. Whitfield ''Pete'', 80, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away at his home on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Pete was born on August 26, 1936 in Gayler, Arkansas near Mountain View to the late John and Gusta (Gayler) Whitfield. Pete was in the construction business and was responsible for building the Pine Hills Golf Course in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Pete is survived by his wife of 62 years Emma (Gaines) Whitfield of the home; one son, Michael Brayden Whitfield and wife JoAnn; two daughters, Kathy Oliphant and husband Bill, and Debbie Hardin and husband Ron; four brothers, Doug, Huelan, Donald, and Johnal Whitfield; four sisters, Imajean Edwards, Annajo Calkins, Nadine Amick, and Joyce Kind; as well as six grandchildren, Michael John Whitfield, Jay Newman and wife Susan, Brayden Oliphant and wife Lindsey, Sarah Oliphant, Joey Newman and wife Shae, and Josh Newman and wife Kayla as well as nine great-grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gusta (Gayler) Whitfield, and two sisters, Judy Nation and Joy Simpson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31, 2016, 10:00AM at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas with Brother Joe Morell and Brother Maxie Haynes officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Flatwoods Cemetery.
