Malbert Farrar, 88, of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Wentworth Place.
He was born on April 27, 1928 in Brister, Arkansas to the late Gilbert Farrar and Clyde (Brandon) Farrar. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was the owner of Malbert Farrar Tractor Work.
Malbert was a very stong hard worker, honest and trustworthy and loved by many. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and loved his family unconditonally. Everyone that met him call him a friend. The family thanks Tina Hicks, his caregiver, for making him smile and bringing joy to the last few months of his life. They also thank the staff of Wentworth Place and Life Touch Hospice for the care that Malbert received.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary (Hicks) Farrar; daughter, Rhonda Hughes; a brother, Travis Farrar; and a sister, Agnes Jane Farrar.
Malbert is survived by a daughter, Julia Farrar; a son, Gary H. Farrar and wife Crystal all of Magnolia; two sisters, Patsy Crumpler and husband John of Magnolia, and Laverne Gunnels of Laurel, Mississippi; a son-in-law Steve Hughes of Magnolia; three granddaughters, Anee Turner and husband Chad of Magnolia, and Chelsea Farrar and Courtney Farrar, both of Conway, Arkansas; and two great grandsons, Trenton Turner and Logan Turner, both of Magnolia.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Micah Carter officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
