SPRINGDALE — Gary W. Cray, 71 of Garfield, passed away Aug. 12, 2013, in Springdale at Circle of Life Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Peach Orchard, Ark., the son of Albert and Faye Holt Cray.

He was a former telephone contractor and lineman. He served in the Army as a crypto-operator. His favorite assignment was Worms, Germany, where he was stationed for 30 months.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed horseback-riding, raising cattle, dogs and unusual chicken breeds. Cary was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all.

He is survived by two daughters, Kindra Dial and husband, Mike, of Springdale, and Tondalaia Nickles and boyfriend, Robert Patton, of Lowell; sister, Mary Alice Stormes and husband, Edwin; three brothers, John Cray and wife, Ronnie, Raymond Cray and wife, Viola, and Douglas Cray; grandchildren, Dustin Higgins and wife, Jessica, Ryan Chase, Dakota, Aeron, Devin, Skyler, Brianna, Hayden; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services with full military honors will be at noon Aug. 28, 2013, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville. Memorial contributions to Circle of Life Hospice or Autumns Reride Youth Ranch Center.
