John Robert Bollinger, 89, of Charleston passed away in a local hospital on March 9, 2012, just 22 days short of his 90th birthday.
He was born March 31, 1922, in Ozark to the late John Henry and Gladys McElroy Bollinger.

He graduated from Charleston High School and then attended Polly Tech in Russellville for two years. He joined the United States Air Corp in 1942 and was discharged in 1946 at the rank of staff sergeant.

John met Cleo Breeze on his birthday when the both of them worked in civil service at Fort Chaffee. They married May 15, 1946. The couple moved to California then moved back to Charleston where John open and operated a service station. They then moved to Tulsa, where John worked as a mechanic for Douglas Aircraft. John then took a job with American Airlines where he retired in 1983 after 23 years of service.

John and Cleo moved back to Charleston after his retirement. John and Cleo greatly enjoyed fishing and spent many months out of the year on the banks of the Toledo Bend Reservoir. John also enjoyed hunting pheasant in western Kansas and was an enthusiastic sportsman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and also was a 32nd degree Mason in the Masonic Lodge No. 155 and a member for more than 60 years. He was present with the Pillars of Solomon award in 2004 for his dedication and years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Bollinger; and one granddaughter, Martha Bollinger.

John's father, John Henry Bollinger, served as mayor of Charleston and as an Arkansas State Legislator and John's uncle Wallace Henry "Doc" Bollinger was one of two well known doctors in Charleston.

Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston. Burial will be under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Cleo Breeze Bollinger; two sons, Robert Henry Bollinger and wife Debra Groves Bollinger and Michael John Bollinger and wife Lois Hunter Bollinger; and two granddaughters, Mary Bollinger Hale and Mindy Bollinger.

Cleo B. Bollinger, 90 of Charleston, AR passed away Thursday, July 21st, 2016 in Charleston.
She was born March 18, 1926 in Nocona, Texas to Gilbert Breeze and Golda Hill Breeze.

She was a member of Charleston First Baptist Church. Cleo and John greatly enjoyed fishing and camping and spent many months out of the year on the banks of the Toledo Bend Reservoir, she also loved Blue Grass Music, enjoyed Turkey Track and traveling to Branson.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband John Robert Bollinger, one granddaughter Martha, three brothers Lewie Breeze, Bob Breeze & Kenneth Breeze.

Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30th, 2016 at Smith Mortuary Chapel with burial in Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

She is survived by two sons Robert Bollinger (Debra) Austin, TX and Mike Bollinger (Lois) Austin, TX, two sisters Joyce Megli, Derby, KS, Angelene Sims, Broken Arrow, OK, one brother Frank Breeze, Burleson, TX and two granddaughters Mary Hale, Pflugerville, TX & Minea Bollinger, Austin, TX.
