B. Leamon Sharpe, who resided in Charleston, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, in Charleston.
He was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Charleston to the late Everett Sharpe and Maggie (Metcalf) Sharpe. He was almost 94 years old.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Opal (Smith) Sharpe; one son, Richard Sharpe; and one sister, Norma Dean Sharpe.
Leamon was a bookkeeper for Shipley Baking Co. in Fort Smith for several years and he retired as office manager for Bruce-Rogers Co. in Fort Smith. Leamon was also a real-estate broker and was owner and operator of Sharpe Real Estate in Charleston. Leamon was a WWII Army veteran, member of American Legion Post 8, District 13, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Charleston.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Vondal Davenport officiating. Burial with American Legion Honors will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Ellen (Price) Sharpe; one daughter, Jeanetta Ray and husband Bill of Lavaca; two sons, David Sharpe and wife Janis of Bartlett, Tenn., and Brad Sharpe and wife Sharon of Charleston; three stepsons, Jerry Barton and J.O. Barton, both of Charleston, and Kenny Barton and wife Melissa of Alabama; 9 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; and 14 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Blayne Sharpe, Scott Sharpe, Chris Giles, Adam Schmalz, Pat Williams and Donald Brickeen.
