Alvin Arlie Gartman Jr. of Charleston passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was born June 6, 1934, in Slayton, Texas, to the late Alvin Arlie Gartman Sr. and Henrietta Ella (Tilley) Gartman. He was 79 years old.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Gene Jones, Viola Donley and Alcy Barbee; and one great-granddaughter, Leslie Ann Bilbrey.

Al was a retired, self-employed computer tech programmer, an avid Indian artifacts hunter and collector and was of the Lutheran faith.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston with the Rev. Terry Scott and the Rev. Roger Haney officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; four daughters, Deborah Gartman and Darla Gartman, both of Lubbock, Texas, Deena Bilbrey of Angleton, Texas, and Donna Gartman of Lake Jackson, Texas; two sons, Eric Gartman and wife Melissa of Charleston and Weldon Gartman and wife Lisa of Van Buren; two stepdaughters, Debbie Lovelace and husband Steve of Branch and Tanya Hamilton and husband Billy of Charleston; one sister, Myrtle "Shorty" Garman of Booneville; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Steve Lovelace, Billy Hamilton, Rockey Clymer, Kennon Noble, Bobby Neissl and Kenny Hewitt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Miesner, Delbert Ervin, Joe King, David Hewitt and Paul Dunn
