Evert Edmond Masingale, 93, of the Greenwood Community, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in Ozark. He was a retired farmer and a member of Altus Nazarene Church.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark. Burial will be at Houston Cemetery in Alix.

He is survived by his wife, Velda Masingale of the Greenwood Community; a daughter, Gertie Qualls of the Greenwood Community; a son, Wayne Masingale of Shawnee, Kan.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Terry Masingale, Kyle Masingale, Lloyd Vaughn, Gary Belt, Mike Wyers and Evan Voorhees.

Velda Mae Masingale, 93, of Ozark, Arkansas, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Ozark.
She was born August 9, 1918 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Carl and Gertrude Lee Pendley.

She was a retired nurse's aid for Turner Memorial Hospital. She wrote the Greenwood Community News for the Spectator for many years. She was a charter member of Nazarene Church of Altus, song leader, Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Director.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty three years, Evert Masingale; two brothers, N.B. and Billy Covert; two sisters, Virginia Youther and Ruby Chapman.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 29, 2012 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Pennington officiating with burial at Houston Cemetery in Alix under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

She is survived by one daughter, Gertie B. Qualls of Altus, Arkansas; one son, Wayne Masingale of Shawnee, Kansas; one brother, Leonard Covert of Oskaloosa, Kansas; five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Tom and Jackie McCormick, Clinton and Eric West, Mark Covert and Jeffery Ross. Honorary are Brian and Eddie McCormick, Leon Hall, Darrel Freeman, Terry Masingale and grandsons, Neil, Kipp and Chris Masingale and Jason Wyers.
