Roy Gilbert, 57, of Altus, Arkansas, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Altus.
He was retired from Delta Pine Land of Scott, Mississippi. He was a member of the Old Country Church of Altus.
He was born May 31, 1957 in Pace, Mississippi to A. B. and Edna May Dunn Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert Lee Gilbert; a sister, Janette Dakin.
He loved nothing more than spending time with his kids and grandbabies, taking the boys fishing and riding the four-wheeler; taking long trips on his motorcycle on a beautiful day.
He is survived by his wife Julia Easterling Gilbert of Altus; three sons, Patrick Gilbert of Altus, Jeff Gilbert and his wife Laura of Fort Benning, Georgia, and William Gilbert and his wife Clarissa of Ozark, Arkansas; two daughters, Kim Gilbert of Altus and Courtland Gilbert of the home; a brother, Jimmy Gilbert and his wife Olivia of Pace, Mississippi; six sisters, Peggy Showers and husband Kim, Linda Bowen and husband John of Boyle, Mississippi, Mary Lee McElroy and husband Jimmy of Hamilton, Mississippi, Becky Robinson and husband Johnny of Pace, Mississippi, Nancy Robinson of Cleveland, Mississippi, and Brenda Johnson of Cleveland, Mississippi; brother-in-law Kent Dakin; five grandchildren, Gabriel, Skylar, and Amery Gilbert, Kyra Entrekin, and James Michael Grioja.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 7, 2015 at The Old Country Church of Altus with Reverend J. D. Ellison officiating, and burial at Houston Cemetery in Alix, Arkansas, under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Serving as pallbearers are Patrick, William, Jeff, and Kim Gilbert, Justin Easterling, Chaz Engleman, and Johnny Ray McCormick. Honorary pallbearers are Kim Showers, Jimmy Gilbert, John Bowen, Johnny Robinson, Kent Dakin, and Otis and Michael Prestage.
