D.G. "Jack" Lafferty, 76, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995, at Washington Regional Medical Center.

Born July 29, 1919, at Hope, he was the son of Bernard and Lula Elizabeth Mayton Lafferty. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and retiring as a major after 37 years of active and reserve duty. He was a faculty member for the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Arkansas, retiring after 30 years. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the UA and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

Survivors are his wife, Doris Lafferty of Fayetteville; three daughters, Nancy Bowen of Fayetteville, Linda Lafferty of Chicago, Ill., and Pat Jones of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Weaver Lafferty of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Wanda Wright of Palm Springs, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service with the Rev. Don Eubanks officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, with the family greeting friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Arkansas Affiliate, 11500 N. Rodney Parham, Suite 19-20, Little Rock; or to American Heart Association, One West Mountain, Fayetteville; or a favorite charity.
