FAYETTEVILLE — Amanda Hope Waite died at home on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born an Valentine's Day in 1966 in Lawrence, Kan., to William P. and Nancy Hampton Waite. She had been a resident of Fayetteville since 1970. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1984 and attended Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas. She was a certified network engineer and an automation specialist for the Western District of the United States Bankruptcy Court. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville. She loved reading, traveling, sports and was an avid supporter of women's athletics.
Amanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Pete Waite, her maternal grandparents, Bee Stanley and J.P. Hampton, and her aunt, Gretchen Hampton Hahn.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Karen Hartz and her husband, Mark, of Stuttgart, Lee Anne Kaylor and her husband, Mike, of Fayetteville; one brother, William H. Waite of Fayetteville; paternal grandmother, Nina Waite of Appleton City, Mo.; maternal grandfather, Donald R. Standley of Harrisonville, Mo.; one aunt, Pamela Nitsche and her husband, Carl, of Mission, Kan.; six cousins and the families; her beloved nieces and nephews, Lindsay and Logan Molock, Michael and Nikky Bruener, and Patrick and Abby Hartz.
A memorial service celebrating Amanda's life will be held Sunday January 5, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. Cremation and internment are under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
The family suggests that remembrances be made to the Washington Regional Medical Center Hospice, 34 Colt Square, Fayetteville, or to the First United Presbyterian Church Library, 695 Calvin St., Fayetteville.
