Harold Elder, 70, of Rogers, died Saturday, April 10, at a local nursing home.

He was born June 13, 1922, at Bald Knob to Francis Elder and Mabel Howe Elder. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for over 40 years for Time-D.C. and was employed by Wal-Mart Stores. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He moved here in 1980 from Springfield, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vernon Elder.

Survivors are his wife, Micheline Elder; two sons, Jeff and Joe Elder, both of Rogers; three daughters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Parsons of Apple Valley, Calif., Judy Clevenger of Reed Springs, Mo., and Jeanie Millican of Springfield; a brother, Floyd Elder of Springfield; two sisters, Viola Mayfield of Carthage, Mo., and Carolyn Swartz of Dayton, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass is set for 10 a.m. today at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Donahue officiating. Burial is to be in St. Vincent Cemetery under direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Rogers. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Community Home Health Care, Bentonville.

ROGERS — Micheline Marie Jeanne Elder, 90, of Rogers, Ark., received her angel wings at 3:15 pm on Aug. 10, 2016. She was born on May 9, 1926, in Juilly, France, to Arthur and Argentine Carlier.

She met her husband, Harold Elder, a soldier from the United States stationed there during WWII. They fell in love and were married, Aug. 25, 1945, in France. She arrived in America a year later with other War Brides. She did not become a U.S. citizen until 1972, after having five children and finally feeling confident enough to pass her U.S. History test.

Micheline loved shopping, especially at Walmart, where Harold was also a greeter. She was a people person and loved swapping stories.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents and two brothers. Micheline is survived by her children the five "J's.', Jackie and her husband, David, Judy, Jeanie, Jeff and his wife, Jennifer and Joe; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Pastor Larry Lovvorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville, Ark. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers. Online condolences may be made at stockdalefuneral.com.
