ROGERS — Russell "Bussy" VanAntwerp Jr. passed away peacefully on March 24, 2016, at his home in Rogers, Ark., following his courageous fight with cancer at the age of 70.
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Vivian Revoir VanAntwerp and Russell VanAntwerp Sr., his brothers, Robert and Richard VanAntwerp. Russell is survived by his wife, Lucille of 46 years, sisters Carol (John) Dunlap, Barbara Pratt, and Erna (Lonnie) Vincin, Russell is lovingly remembered by his children, Robin (Dan) Pintozzi, Russell VanAntwerp III, Theresa (Larry) Schaeffer, Michael Boldra, Alicia Voehl and grandchildren, Nicholas, Demika, Christian, Grace, Trinity, Jack, Alyssa, Russell IV, and Christopher.
Russell was born in Plainwell, Mi., on Aug. 24, 1945. After high school Russell attended North Central Bible College, and proudly served in 32 years in the U.S. Army with two tours of duty; Vietnam and Desert Storm.
Russell worked as a furnace operator and part formation at RTW, a foreman at Superior Industry, and Wal-Mart where he worked in maintenance and assembly until he began cancer treatment. Russell could still be found returning to Wal-Mart to visit his extended "family", and for donut day.
Russell enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing riding his motorcycle, helping anyone in need, traveling with his wife in their motor home, visiting casinos, and talking to his camping family and friends on his phone.
Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Rogers, Ark. Interment with full military honors by the Rogers American Legion will follow in the St. Vincent Cemetery, Avoca, Ark.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rogers American Legion. Online condolences to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Circle of Life Hospice, Rogers National Guard Armory, American Legion Post 100, family and friends that provided never ending support.
