Stonie Joseph "Joe" Crouch, 73, of Ozark, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Fort Smith. He was born March 30, 1937 in Watalula, Arkansas to Stonewall Jackson "Stonie" Crouch and Maggie Lea Stevens Crouch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, William Joseph "Billy" Crouch and Danny Ray Crouch, and two sisters, Juanita Gelene Armstrong and Maggie Naomi Kuykendall.

He is survived by his loving wife Genell Waldron Crouch; two daughters, Kathy Nichols and La Tonna Williams, and a son Tate Young, all of Ozark; four brothers, John, Jack, and Roger Crouch all of Ozark,and Ed Crouch of Hagerville, and two sisters Eulalia Auslam of Fayetteville, and Nina Wilson.

Joe was a dedicated Christian and knew Christ as his lord and savior. He was a wonderful father to five children, thirteen grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

Joe was a lifetime carpenter; there was never a job too large or too small that he couldn't handle. His skill as a carpenter was unsurpassed. He worked for years as District Foreman for Brown and Root, and was loved by all his crew.

He did a mission trip to South America to help build churches there. He loved the children wherever he was and took a suitcase full of candy to hand out to the children there.

His hobbies include fishing, hunting and spoiling grandchildren and helping his children, grandchildren, friends, family and neighbors with projects they were involved in. He was always the first to put out his spring garden, many times to be replanted. Watalula will never be the same.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, January 24th at First Baptist Church in Ozark. Graveside service is 3:00 PM Tuesday at Mt. View Cemetery in Ozark under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund at First Baptist Church, 400 West Market Street, Ozark, Arkansas 72949.
