Delmer Morton "Chief", 49, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1956, in Texas to Calvin Taylor and Ruth Ann Morton.

He was a graduate of Bentonville High School. He worked seven years with the Rogers School Bus Transportation Department, many years for the city of Rogers Recreation Department, many years as a truck driver and was a volunteer firefighter and EMT and enjoyed his part-time employment with the Hillbilly Smokehouse. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and stock car racing.

He was preceded in death by both parents and an older brother, James Morton.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sheila Morton; three sons, Randy Roper, Michael Huskey and Shane Corter, three daughters, Amanda Powell, LeAnn Sandecki and Katie Payne; two sons-in-law, Chris Powell and Raymond Sandecki; one daughter-in-law, Donna Roper and one sister, Darlene Morton. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Tucks Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Jo Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rollins Funeral Home, online at mem.com.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who will always be loved, but never forgotten. Go home and Rest; We love you Dad!

In lieu of Rowers, memorials may be made to the Delmar Morton Memorial Fund at the Bank of Rogers.
