Jack Wayne Sossamon, 84, of Ozark, Arkansas, passed away from this life on Monday, January 25, 2016 in Ozark. He was the son of J. R. and Oda Swearingen Sossamon.

He raised broiler chickens for thirty years, a bus driver for Pleasant View Schools for thirty-one years, a Franklin County Justice of the Peace for eighteen years, drove a truck locally for eight years, served on the Airport Committee and was a member of the Cattleman’s Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim; and two sisters, Alma Hood and Gelene Jeffers.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Vida, of the home; one brother, Bill G. Sossamon of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Danny Carty of Mulberry; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Debbie Sossamon of Ozark; one grandson and wife, Jamie and Melanie Carty of Alma; and one granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Jon House and children, Katelynn, Madelyn and James of Mulberry; and many nieces, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Jim McElhaney officiating, and burial at Highland Cemetery, under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

Serving as pallbearers are Ron Jeffers, Gary, Larry, and Bryan Hood, and Bill M. and Chris Sossamon.
