WHITFIELD, Legrande J. - Legrande J. Whitfield died Friday afternoon at Bentonville at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.F. Matkins. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Mr. Whitfield was a native of N. Carolina where he was married to Miss Cally Edmondson, who survives him. To them were born 7 children, all of whom are living and are as follows: Mrs. Earl Hardy, Rogers; Mrs. F. Robinson, Centerton; Mrs. N.C. Deason, Avoca; Mrs. J.F. Matkins and Mrs. J.R. McDaniels of Bentonville; D.H. Whitfield, South Dakota. (only six named. Ed.) Mr. Whitfield was 62 years old and had lived in Benton county since 1888. He had many friends in this end of the county who are sorry to learn of his death.

WHITFIELD, Elizabeth - Mrs. Elizabeth Whitfield, wife of the late L.J. Whitfield, died last week just two months to the day after the death of her husband. Mrs. Whitfield was 66 years old and had lived in Arkansas since 1888. She was the mother of five daughters and two sons, all of whom survive her and are as follows: Mrs. F. Robinson, Centerton; Mrs. J.R. McDaniels and Mrs. J.F. Matkins of Bentonville; Mrs. Earl Hardy of Rogers; Mrs. N.C. Deason of Avoca; F.H. Whitfield of South Dakota and D.H. Whitfield of Bentonville.
