BELLA VISTA — William A. Frederick died on Dec. 16, 2014.

A private service and burial will be held in Bella Vista, Ark., on Dec 20.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Plaza, 1201 NE Legacy Plaza, Bentonville, AR 72712.

Bill was born in Gary, Ind., on May 31, 1930, the only child of Grant William and Mary Love Frederick.

He grew up a quiet, serious and shy boy in Crown Point, Ind., where he played the clarinet in the high school band. He studied agricultural economies at Purdue University, where he was mentored by former Secretary of Agriculture Earl Butz.

While at Purdue, he met his first love, Clara Esther Steger. Bill and Clara were married in 1950.

After graduation from Purdue in 1952, Bill went to work for Cereal By-Products Company in Chicago. Ill., selling feed ingredients. He moved his growing family to Kansas City in 1956, where he later went to work for MA McClellan.

In 1967 he started Frederick Sales Company, a manufacturer's rep for animal feed ingredients, representing clients such as Church & Dwight, Occidental Chemical and American Colloid with honesty and integrity. For the following 30-plus years, Bill's focus was his business and his family.

In 2000, Bill retired, and he and Clara relocated to Bella Vista, Ark. Clara died in 2002.

Bill was lucky, as he soon met his last love, Emma Holt. Bill and Emma married in 2004 and spent several years traveling and enjoying their life together. In 2011, Bill was diagnosed with throat cancer. Emma took on the added role of caregiver and, for the past three-plus years, has patiently and lovingly dedicated her life to Bill.

Bill will be remembered as a man who built his life around hard work and family, was a staunch conservative, enjoyed dancing, was disappointed frequently by the Purdue Boilermakers, was always hopeful about his Kansas City Chiefs, loved driving his Shelby convertible in Shriner's parades, was inspired by and frequently drove through the Kansas Flint Hills, was a terrible, but always hopeful, golfer, and had a mind and memory as sharp as a razor, even at 84.

Bill leaves his wife, Emma of Bella Vista.

Was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara; and his parents, Grant and Mary.

He leaves his three children, Bill (Nancy) Frederick, Naperville, Ill., Debra (Mark) Sadler, Shawnee, Kan., and Tom (Lori) Frederick, Prairie Village, Kan.; as well as Emma's children, who took Bill into their lives and hearts, Jimmy (Diane) Holt, Waynesville, N.C., Brett (Janet) Holt, Gulfport, Miss., Tempa (Craig) Schmidt, Springfield, Mo., and Tammy Carrozzo, Bella Vista, Ark.; his grandchildren, Patrick (Cristen) Frederick, Justin Sadler, Matthew Frederick, Michael (Amanda) Sadler, George Frederick, Christine Frederick and James Frederick; and great-granddaughter, Caroline; as well as nine stepgrandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Sweet dreams, Bill.
