Normalea Funkhouser, 87, of Norfork passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Mountain Home. She was born September 13, 1929 in Dolph, Arkansas to the late Chester and Corgel (Faught) Acklin. Normalea worked at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas 18 years as a sealer. She enjoyed writing, having a column in the Baxter Bulletin called Normalea’s Revelries, over fifty short stories and three books. Normalea was a retired Justice of the Peace of the Quorum Court of Baxter County. She was a member of the Norfork Church of Christ and loved spending time with her family and friends. Normalea is preceded in passing by her parents; her late husband, Theo “Red” Funkhouser and two brothers, Emmett “Dolan” and Robert “RC” Acklin.

Normalea is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda Shedenhelm of Lakeview, Arkansas, Teresa and Aaron Flowers of Norfork, Arkansas; three sisters, Sandra “Rosetta” Jones of Wichita, Kansas, Anna “Fredia” Smithson of Norfork, Arkansas and Dorene Ford of Calico Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Dennis Acklin of Norfork, Arkansas; four grandsons, Steven Marcoccia of Norfork, Arkansas, Gabe Sullard of Shady Point, Oklahoma, Brian Shedenhelm of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Josh Sullard of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Adkins of Midway, Arkansas, Bettie Acklin of Norfork, Arkansas and Sheila Acklin of Carlsbad, New Mexico; eight great grandchildren and many more family and friends.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Conner Family Funeral Home Chapel with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Minister John Harrison officiating. The burial will take place at the Galatia Cemetery in Norfork, Arkansas under the direction of Conner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
