Paul Edward Burks, 77, of Smackover passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, surrounded by family. He was born February 17, 1939 to Earnest Burks and Naomi Graff Burks in Monroe County, Michigan.
Paul joined the United States Marine Corps in December 1956 where he earned the rank of Corporal and was a Helicopter Mechanic. He began driving eighteen wheelers after his military service and loved being on the road. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Earnest, Bill and Chuck Burks and two sisters, Peg Jackson and Grace Humphries.
Paul is survived by his wife, Francis Burks of Smackover, brother, Jim Burks of Searcy, and sister, Rachel Turner of Sheridan; His children, Eddie Burks and wife Tonda of El Dorado, Libby Hughes and husband Robert of El Dorado, Rusty Burks and wife Brenda of Camden and Nancy Nicholson and husband Terry of El Dorado, Earlene Eubanks of Smackover, James Eubanks and wife Margaret of Elliot, Mike Eubanks of Smackover; grandchildren, Becky Biggers, Kevin Hughes, Christi Sindle, Jennifer Hooter, Eric Nicholson, Jody Parker, Jason Pyle, Joe Eubanks, Missy Parks, Gracie Eubanks and Layne Mast; great grandchildren Jaycie Hughes, Caroline and Colton Biggers, Linley and Mason Sindle, Marlee Hooter, Wyatt Parker, Zoe and Kaelyn Pyle, Jacob Eubanks, Evan and Shelby Parks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at the Bailey Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Smackover Cemetery with Rev. Sye Duke and Rev. Bob Inmon officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
