Crawford Garland Coleman, 72, of Rt. 2, Warren, died Thursday morning at a Bradley County hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Coleman was born at Strong, Feb. 9, 1898, the son of James S. and Ada Norris Coleman. A resident of Smackover since 1922, he had lived in Warren for the past two years. He was a former employe of the Berry Petroleum Co. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Warren and of the Smackover Masonic Lodge 717. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Manie Williams Coleman of Warren; a son, A. J. Coleman, Warren; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Berthelot, New Orleans, La.; three brothers, J. W. Coleman, Reno, Nev., Sam Coleman, Camden, and Eusel Coleman, Fayetteville; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Brabec of Lawton, Okla; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Paul Brock, Henry Graves, Raymond Carroum, Harvey White, Jack Fambrough, Jr., and Clyde Bradley. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Elderly Men's Sunday School Class of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, W. B. Cochran, Luther Scott, Claude Box, Loy Bayles, W. E. Corley and H. H. Kapehart. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Smackover with the Rev. Curtis Pennington, the Rev. E. T. Glover and the Rev. Conway Sawyers officiating.
