Melba Joyce Presley, 75, of Roland, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014. Melba was born September 18, 1938 in the Martindale Community to the late Oscar Henry and Willie Alice Ball McNeely Powers.

Melba graduated from Joe. T Robinson and grew up in the Martindale Community on Hwy 10, she worked for South Western Bell for over 3 decades, she was of the Baptist faith. Melba and Johnny enjoyed bowling, square dancing and traveling the whole United States but most of all loved being together.

Melba is survived by six nephews, Bobby Johnson, Brett Johnson, Bartt Johnson, all of Bigelow; Jeff Newkirk, of Roland, John Newkirk, of Maumelle, James Newkirk, of Little Rock; two nieces, Betty Hartnett of Roland, and Deborah Wantulok, of Searcy and a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years John C. Presley, sister Martha Jean Powers Golden

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock (501) 224-8300.Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Roland, AR. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.

John C. Presley, 75, of Roland, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, at his home surrounded by family. John was born on April 14, 1938 in Maumelle, AR to the late John J. and Lovie Cecile Presley. He is also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Marshall.

A lifelong resident of Roland, John spent his childhood riding horses and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Following his graduation at Joe T. Robinson High School, he joined the Army. After his service time he obtained a Real Estate License and sold property before starting his career at ABF Freight System. He was a dedicated worker who retired after over 30 years of service.

John was a man of Baptist faith, who loved his family. He was an avid bowler, bowling multiple perfect games. He loved being outside, whether that be tending to his cattle or just observing the great scenery. He made his home at the foot of Pinnacle Mountain, and although he traveled all over the United States, he never found a place that compared to Roland.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Melba J. Presley; one sister, Louise Newkirk of Little Rock; six nephews, Jeff Newkirk, of Roland, John Newkirk, of Maumelle, James Newkirk, of Little Rock; Bobby Johnson, Brett Johnson, Bartt Johnson, all of Bigelow; two nieces, Betty Hartnett of Roland, and Deborah Wantulok, of Searcy and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30 in the Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Roland, AR. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
