FAYETTEVILLE — Marvin Peters, 83, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Dec, 12, 2010, at his home.

He was born May 1, 1927, in Elkins, N.M., the son of Marvin Wyley and Bessie Keene Peters. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He was an engineer for Tyson Foods, retiring after 17 years and later worked at Fayetteville Auto Park Honda for 15 years. He was a member of Farmington Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and served in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna Peters; two sons, Jerry Peters and his wife, Barbara, of Fayetteville, and Allen Peters of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Mitchell Peters, Martin Peters and Leslie Peters.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Farmington Baptist Church, under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Preston Beeks.

Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Steve Luther, James Luther, Sam Luther, John Luther, Dale Pace and Lanny Samples. Honorary pallbearer will be William D. Erwin.
