Ester DuBose Walker, 90, of Conway Arkansas answered her call to her new home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born on February 2, 1926, in Abbeville, South Carolina to John DuBose and Anna Thomas.
Ester professed a hope in Christ Jesus at an early age. She was a member of New Philadelphia Baptist Church in Chicago, IL for many years and served on the Usher Board and as Pastor's Nurse.
She moved to Chicago in the late 40's where she married the late Johnnie M. Walker of Brinkley, Arkansas, a World War II veteran. To this union four children were born. She later moved to Florida after her husband passed away. There she provided live-in-home care for the aged and seriously ill. She moved to Conway, Arkansas with her daughter, Felicia and son-in-law Anthony Wayne Hoskins in 2008. She united with the Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church where she remained faithful in her attendance until the Lord called her from work to reward.
Mrs. Walker modeled for Jet Magazine in the early 50's and had also worked as a teacher's aid for the Chicago Public School District.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight sisters and brothers and favorite sister-in-law, Viola Turner.
She is survived by three sons, Phillip (Patricia) Walker of St. Petersburg, FL, Johnnie (Ashley) Walker of Umatilla, FL, Tarrinson Walker of Tampa, FL.; Fontaine (Dalan) Jones of Tampa, FL; daughter, Felicia (Anthony Wayne) Walker Hoskins of Conway, AR; brother, Johnny Bishop DuBose of Toccoa, GA; sisters, Sally Starks of Decatur, GA and Edna Smith of Lithonia, GA; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; the Walker family of Allegan, MI; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 from 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Veasley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce St. Conway with the Rev. Artee Williams officiating. Interment will be held at Robinson Cemetery in Conway immediately following the funeral service.
