He, along with other trustees of Mt. Holly's Board in 1884, erected monument at Oakland Cemetery to honor the 640 Confederate soldiers from Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Missouri whose remains were moved to Oakland from original interments in Mount Holly.
