Cecil Gary Hughes, age 66, of Heber Springs passed away January 13, 2017 at his residence. Born March 12, 1950 in Dermott, Arkansas he was the son of the late John Cecil and Irene Shaw Hughes. He was a retired mechanic and a member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Heber Springs.

Mr. Hughes hobbies were working on cars, loved drag racing and restoring muscle cars. He loved taking care of his four dogs. His church family was his pride and joy. He loved spending time with his family and was a great overall family man.

He was preceded in death by a son , Chistopher Gary Hughes in 2001.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Streeter Hughes, whom he married August 11, 1972; one son, Jeffrey Hughes of Heber Springs; one sister, Glenda Barley and husband Paul of Drasco, Arkansas and many friends.

Pallbearers are Kevin Barley, Danny Bryant, Eric Dunlap, Jim Shoop, Darrell Barden, Darrell Birdsong, Mike Eaton and Keith Barley. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Downtown Church of Christ.

The funeral service will be Monday , January 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Heber Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bruce Bryant officiating. Visitation will at 12;00 noon to service time on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Old Texas Cemetery in Guy, Arkansas.

Heber Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
