Powhatan- Lowell Junior Richey, 88, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. He was born on May 13, 1928 in Moundsville, Missouri to Parvin and Emmer Treatenburg Richey. He married Bonnie Sue Smith in Powhatan on November 24, 1956. Lowell owned and operated a sawmill for many years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, and his parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra McCormic (Wendell) and Shelley Doyle (Steve), both of Portia; and Stacey Harmon (David) of Horseshoe Bend; sister, Betty Wright (R.A.) of Strawberry; grandchildren, Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic (Kenzie), Rachel Harmon, and Preston Harmon; great grandchildren, Link McCormic and Brody Williams.
Visitation for Mr. Richey will be Monday, February 6, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Harold Russell and Cindy Bragg officiating. Burial will be at Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic, Rachel Harmon, Preston Harmon, Michael Smith, and Evan Doyle.

Bonnie Sue Richey
Bonnie Sue Smith Richey, 79, of Powhatan, died Jan. 7, 2017, at her home.
Born Jan. 21, 1937, in Powhatan, she was the daughter of Evan and Laura Smith. She was a member of the Full Life Gospel Temple in Powhatan.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Cleades Smith Sr., Tommy Smith, Frank Smith and Dempsey Smith; and a sister, Joan Drury.
Survivors include her husband, Lowell Richey, whom she married Nov. 24, 1956, in Powhatan; three daughters, Sandra McCormic and husband Wendell and Shelley Doyle and husband Steve, all of Portia, and Stacey Harmon and husband David, Horseshoe Bend; a brother, Jerry Smith and wife Jean, Piedmont, S.C.; four sisters, Mary Maxwell and husband Bill, Black Rock, and Jeraldine Davis, Lois Colbert and Pat Smith, all of Imboden; four grandchildren, Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic, Preston Harmon and Rachel Harmon; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Powhatan Cemetery with Rev. Harold Russell officiating. Cox Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic, Preston Harmon, Rachel Harmon, Michael Smith and Evan Doyle.
