George Washington Gardner husband of Gertha Mae (Miller) Gardner. George Washington Gardner son of Grover Cleveland Gardner and Maggie 'Mag' Eunice (Mullen) Gardner.

George Gardner, 86, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Strawberry, Arkansas died Monday, April 24, 1995, at Hospitality Care Center in Arkadelphia.

He was born in Shelbyville, and was the retired postmaster at Strawberry, a World War II Army & Air Corps veteran, a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, and the widower of Mae (Miller) Gardner.

Survivors include one son: David Gardner of Arkadelphia; two sisters: Helen Clinton of Lynn and Eunis Gunner of Batesville; two grandchildren, Julie Shelby and Jonathan Gardner, and a great-grandchild: Nathan Shelby.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm. Wednesday at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church near Strawberry, with Reverend L.J. Gay officiating.

Interment will be in the Lancaster Cemetery near Strawberry. Family visiting hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the t the Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Medical Systems Hospice Program. Compliments of Murry-Ruggies Funeral Home
