Obituaries:
Gearl Aubrey Cates, 82, of North Little Rock returned to Our Lord on January 22, 2014.

He was born June 15,1931 to William and Josephine Cates in England, Arkansas.

Gearl is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marcy Cates; his pride and joy son, William Aubrey Cates. He was the beloved stepfather to Leonard Brown, Liz Brown and Rachel (Brown) Dyson.

Gearl also leaves behind his sisters, Cybil Caple and Mary House and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was a much loved husband, father and grandfather.

Being a lifelong Baptist and Razorback fan, Gearl traveled the world through his 36 years of devotion to his country, spending 4 years with the United States Air Force and 32 years in the Army National Guard (Arkansas). Reaching the level of Master Mason and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Gearl spent time as a Shriner to aid children in the Shriner's Hospital.

Being a motorcycle enthusiast, Gearl traveled extensively through out the United States and Canada. He did all of this while providing a happy loving home for his family. No Razorback game will ever be the same without him. "Play ball Dad, Play ball."

A graveside memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.

Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Marcy A. Cates, 84, of North Little Rock was called home on Sunday, November 2, 2014.

She was born December 3, 1929 to James and Evelyn Whittington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gearl A. Cates; daughter, Dee Brush and her son, Reed Brown of North Little Rock.

She is survived by her son, Leonard Brown, of North Little Rock; daughters, Liz Brown, of North Little Rock, Rachel Dyson, of Houston, Texas; son, William Cates, of North Little Rock; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and drove buses for Pulaski County Special School District. Her passion was nursing and she was a LPN at Doctor’s Hospital before going to Baptist Memorial where she worked in Labor and Delivery until she retired.

Graveside services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., November 7th, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
