Darrell Lowell Sherrell, son of the late William Robert Sherrell and Myrtle McCurley Sherrell, was born September 10, 1933 in Brockwell, Arkansas. He departed this life March 6, 2015 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 24 days. In 1952 he was united in marriage to Mary Alene Blankenship and to his union three sons were born. Darrell spent his life as a son, brother, nephew, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. During his working years, he worked at White River Propane in addition to being a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Oxford Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law: Lowell Gene Sherrell of Green Valley, Missouri, Randy Steven and Karen Sherrell and Russell Keith and Kim Sherrell all of Oxford; one brother: Shelby Gene Sherrell of Myron; three grandchildren: Brandon Gene Sherrill and wife Krista, Laura Jo Sherrell and Jordan Alene Nicole Sherrell; six great grandchildren: Jackson Brady Sherrell, Rylan Gene Sherrell, Tyler Sherrell, Michael Sherrell, Joni Sherrell and Trysta Sherrell; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives: Alene Blankenship Sherrell; Ruth Washington Sherrell and Martha Vanlandingham Sherrell; eight brothers and sisters: Loyd Sherrell, Hearl Sherrell, Oma Robbins, Vearl Sherrell, Cecil Sherrell, Dale Sherrell, Armilda Everett and Harlen Sherrell and one great grandson: Payton Sherrell.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 12-2 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne with Steve Stevenson officiating. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers: Terry Dillard, Alan Sherrell, Alfred Grice, Max Williams, Willie Moser, Wayne Neal.
Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Blankenship, Charles Sherrell and Howard Blankenship.
