Julia Lea Farmer, 74, of Conway went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 2, 2015. She was born Monday, July 14, 1941 in Conway, Arkansas to Paul and Floy Maddox.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Doyne V. Farmer, father Paul L. Maddox, brother Robert Maddox, sister Sandra Henry and roommate Johnnie Hanks.
Survivors include her son Donnie Farmer and wife Ashley of Atkins, Arkansas, granddaughter and absolute love of her life, Avery Farmer of Atkins, Arkansas, mother Floy Johnson Maddox, formerly of Conway, Arkansas, brothers Royce Maddox and wife Brenda of Floyd, Arkansas, Richard Maddox and wife Trudy of Clinton, Arkansas, best friend Linda Sue Fowlkes of Vilonia, Arkansas along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Julia was a faithful and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was blessed to work alongside – as well as get into trouble with – her best friend, Linda Sue Fowlkes, for several years before she began working in food service for Vilonia Public Schools where she retired in 2001. She also served as a secretary-treasurer and children’s Sunday school teacher for Center Point Freewill Baptist Church in Vilonia where she made lifelong friends while working for the Lord. Julia loved Southern gospel singings, anything purple, and all things Elvis. She enjoyed gardening and could often be found using her trimmers on any plant or tree she deemed necessary – whether in her yard or not. She was brutally honest, unfailingly patient, and especially good at spoiling her granddaughter, Avery.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Monday October 5, 2015 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10am, Tuesday October 6, 2015 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Vilonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kent Brown, Tom Hambuchen, Freddie Fowlkes, Jeffrey Fowlkes, Ronnie Fowlkes and Jerry Williams. Tommy Fowlkes and the staff at Heritage Living Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.
