Lucille Frances Sowell Arendall, 89, of Conway, died Saturday at Conway Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 19, 1920, to John Walter and Alice Jewel Emerson Sowell of Vilonia. She was the wife of the late William Cecil Arendall of Vilonia.

The middle daughter of seven children, in December of 1941, at age 21, Lucille married the handsome young man from down the road in Vilonia, just a month before he was called upon to serve in WWII. When he returned four years later,

Lucille had helped build the house that she would keep faithfully with W.C. for the next 58 years. A loving mother, adoring grandmother and beloved sister, her front door was always open and led straight into the kitchen, where a meal was always ready and waiting. Lucille was an impeccable dresser, and still holds the secret to the greatest apple pie known to man. She attended the Mars Hill Church of Christ in Vilonia.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, W.C.; infant son, Gary Lynn Arendall; four brothers, Ira Sowell, Ruby Sowell, Ewell Sowell, and Elmer Sowell; and sister, Hazel Sowell Stufflebeem.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Kay, and husband Gary Rhea; grandson, Michael Rhea and his wife Liza; and sister, Tommy Rayda Sowell Stanley.

Visitation will be Tuesday night from 6-8pm at Roller McNutt funeral home in Conway. The service will be graveside at the Vilonia Cemetery on Wednesday morning at 10am with Bro. David Riley officiating, under the direction of Roller McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
