Obituary
Earsy Fleming, 84, of Batesville died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas.
He was born on August 4, 1927 in Darnell, Louisiana and was the son of Henry Fleming and Minnie Davenport Fleming. He graduated from Magnolia High School in Pioneer, Louisiana.
After he graduated, he served in the U. S. Army. Earsy met and married the love of his life, Nell Chrisp, in Chicago where they started and raised their family. They had been married for 62 years at the time of his death.
He worked as a Federal Postal Security Officer for the United States Post Office for 32 years before retiring. He moved to Arkansas in 1982. He was very much a people person and was a loving person to all. Entertaining and fishing was a great part of his life.
Earsy and Nell both loved to play pinochle and they played every night. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Chrisp Fleming of the home; sons: Larry Fleming and his wife, Sabrina of Chicago and William Gibson of Richmond, California; daughters: Valorie Peeples and her husband, Walter and Cheryl Ringo both of Batesville; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Bro. Troy Sharp and Rev. David Toney officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Larry Fleming, William Gibson, Walter Peeples, Walter Peeples II, Darius Fleming, Brad Fleming, Eugene Green, and Carlos Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Fleming, Jr., Orlando Fleming, Stanley Fleming, and James Watts.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Desha First Baptist Church Youth Department, PO Box 129, Desha, AR 72527
