Gary was a 'special' person. Very special. He was born on Mountain Springs Road just outside the city limits of Cabot, Lonoke, Arkansas.
He was born at home and the mid-wife was his mother's sister. Gary survived several defects, primarily one which was described as a portion of his digestive tract exposed at birth. Arkansas Childrens Hospital and all of the doctors there always got the credit for saving his life.
However, he loved to tell of the Drs telling his mother that Gary would not live past the age of eight. He would laugh out-loud and say, "I showed them. I outlived every one of those Docs!"
He loved girls. He would approach with full confidence any female and tell her out-flat, "Howdy! You not look bad today!"
As crude as the line sounded, it almost always ended up getting him a big smile and often a good hug.
He passed at home early on a Thursday morning while preparing to hitch-hike to Cabot. He had a massive heart attack.
He is sorely missed....such a kind soul.
