Clara E. Stevens age 97 of Edgemont died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. She was born July 26, 1917 at Lunenburg, Arkansas to John Franklin and Mary (Brooks) Reeves.
She worked several years for the Batesville Public Schools and was member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grover Stevens; two brothers, Archie Reeves and Ray Reeves and five sisters, Gertie Dry, Audie Paddock, Ollie Killion, Nona Conyers and Carrie Johnson. Survivors include one son, Johnny Stevens of Blue Springs, Missouri; one daughter, Barbara Avery of Edgemont; two grandchildren, Shawn Stevens and Marie Stevens both of Blue Springs, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Shayna Stevens, Jacob Stevens, Drake Scurlock, Tristan Scurlock and Mela Scurlock; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services was Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free will Baptist church in Batesville with Bro. Bobby Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeves Cemetery located near Guion with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Stevens, Jacob Stevens, Larry Hull, Bill McFarland, David Sexton, and Dennis Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers are Remmel Conyers and Coy Dale.
