FORT SMITH — Ned Choate Jr., 76, of Fort Smith died April 25, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born Feb. 9, 1930, near Dutch Mills to Edward C. "Ned" and Amma Lee Gregory Choate.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Choate of the home.; two sons, Michael Choate and Kevin Choate, both of Fort Smith; one daughter, Kim Choate of Fort Smith; one sister, Sharon Mekic of California; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Olive Choate of California.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, online at www.luginbuel.com. Burial will follow in Dutch Mills Cemetery.

FORT SMITH — Mary E. Choate, 79, of Fort Smith, Ark., entered into rest on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in Fort Smith.

She was born April 29, 1933, in Canadian, Texas, the daughter of the late Fred and Eva Hardage.

She was retired from J.C. Penny, member of First Baptist Fort Smith, and the widow of the late Ned Choate Jr. Survivors include daughter, Kim Choate Kidder and husband, Brad Jr. of Van Buren; two sons, Michael and wife, Debra Choate of Fort Smith, Ark., and Kevin and wife, Martha Choate of Fort Smith, Ark.; brother, Ronnie Hardage of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Verna Hutchins of Bethel Heights, Ark.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith.
