Mada Imogene Brown Hammond of Conway died Sunday (June 27, 2004) in Conway at the age of 86.

Imogene was born Oct. 28, 1917, in Bee Branch, Ark., to Rosalee McKnight Brown and Clarence Earl Brown. She was the widow of Ralph Ellis Hammond and the mother of David Arthur Hammond of Hot Springs, Mike Kenneth Hammond of Beebe and Sue Ann Hammond Ashbaugh of Arkadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Margueritte Brown Holt; and is survived by her brothers, Ray Brown and Graydon Brown of North Little Rock, and sisters-in-law, Doris Hammond of Dallas, Texas, and Ethel Hammond of Conway.

Imogene was the beloved grandmother of Kevin Hammond of Jackson, Mo., Keith Hammond of Dallas, Texas, Kara Hammond Logan of Cabot, Kristi Hammond Doyle of Marion, Sharon Hammond Humphrey of Hot Springs, David Ashbaugh of Arkadelphia, Melanie Hammond of Sacramento, Calif., James Hammond of Weaverville, N.C., Brent Ashbaugh of San Ramon, Calif.; and she was the proud great-grandmother of 12.

Imogene was a housewife and mother who worked as church secretary at Washington Avenue Methodist Church in North Little Rock for several years. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Conway.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway following the services.
