Obituary
T.J. Brown, 70 of Natural Dam, Arkansas born June 3rd, 1939 in Natural Dam, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Sparks Peachtree Palliative Care Unit in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was a farmer & cattleman, a member of the Grandview Assembly of God Church in Natural Dam, Arkansas. He was associated with the starting of the Natural Dam Rodeo Arena and served as Riding Club President for many years, He served on the Cedarville School Board from 1975 until 1986, and a member of the Uniontown Masonic Lodge. He received the Governor's Volunteer Excellence Award in 1989.
In 2008 he received the Cowboy Spirit Award presented by Royal Wade Kimes for the "Preservation of the Cowboy" and was a lifetime member of the International Professional Rodeo Association. He served his community, church, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom & Zona Brown; a son, Tommy Ray Brown; four sisters, Maple Smith, Eula Richmond, Lona Lou Wiseley and Ruby Hatton; one brother, J.W. Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; three daughters, Teresa Graham and husband Dean of Natural Dam, AR, Jannie Julian and husband Clay of Ozark, AR, Lorna Brown of Natural Dam, AR; four sisters, Lena Johnson of Benton City, Washington, Velma Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Ella Ross of Van Buren, AR, Lizzie Jackson of Siloam Springs, AR; three brothers, Arlie Brown, Billy Brown and Jimmie Brown all of Natural Dam, AR; nine grandchildren, Justin, Dillion, Kelsey, C.J., Misty, Alecia, Dakota, Shelby, and Shanda; five great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Hunter, Gage, Temprance and Jace; as well as several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 4 at 2:00pm at Grandview Assembly of God Church in Natural Dam with the Rev. Larry Shankle officiating.
Pallbearers will be Darrell O'Bar, Johnny Ward, Steve Massey, Jamie Marion, Alvin Nolan and Bill Tibbits.
Honorary Pallbearers were Thell Ellison, J.C. Ward, Richard Emberton, Bob Jones, Leroy Haggard, Kenneth Shelley, George Cook, Rev. James Spears, Larry Merrill, Gary Young and Grant Workman.
