Albert the husband of Bernice Alta (Fort) Roper. The son of Robert A. and Nettie (Baxley) Roper.



Albert E. Roper, 82, of LaPlace, IL, passed away 6:50 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Eastview Terrace in Sullivan, IL.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

Albert was born December 15, 1931 in Leachville, AR, the son of Robert A. and Nettie (Baxley) Roper. He married Bernice Alta Fort on December 8, 1958 in Hoxie, AR.

Albert was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at Caterpillar.

He is survived by his wife Bernice of 55 years; son Steve (Jayne) Roper of Plainfield, IN; daughter Barbara Urban of LaPlace, IL; grandchildren Hannah Urban of Dallas, TX, and Nicholas (Amanda) Urban and their children Layila and Cadence of Arlington, TX; brother William (Joy) Roper of Swifton, AR; sister Rosie Freeman of Screven, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Mary McCall, Juanita Trimmer, Tom Roper, Sue Cagle, Ed Roper, Joe Roper, Pete Roper, Arthur Roper, Ann Lyle, and his special dog Sassy.

The family would like to thank DMH Hospice of Decatur and Eastview Terrace in Sullivan, IL for all their care and compassion given to Albert during his journey.
