EGYPT — Ray Lewis Phipps Jr., 71, of Egypt passed from this life Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born May 22, 1939, at Egypt to Ray Sr. and Essie Vaughn Phipps. Ray was a chemical salesman and loved fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Egypt Baptist Church and a member of the Egypt City Council. Ray served in the Arkansas National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Andrea and David Trammell of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Shanley, Alexa and Jazmine Trammell; and a brother, Jerry Phipps of Egypt.

Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rex Howell officiating.

Burial will follow in Markum Cemetery at Egypt.

Active pallbearers will include Jerry Cook, Brian Skinner, Tim Gibson, Darrell Vaughn, Don Scruggs and George Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers will include Donna Bowers and Vick Houston.
