Nancy Emogene "Jean" Hennis, 91 of North Little Rock, formerly of Sherwood, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Jean was born to the late Fred and Lucy Johnson Walker, in Donaldson on September 10, 1920.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Hennis; six brothers, Noel, Champ, J.W., Lecil, Carl and Thad J. Walker; four sisters, L.A. Boen, Jo Tyler, Florence Freeman and Daphene Anderton.
She was a member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church and Florence Chapter of the Eastern Star. Jean was an elementary school teacher and retired after 22 years. She and her husband loved to travel especially during the winter months when they would take their camper to Brownsville, TX and meet up with friends from the Good Sam's Club. She also loved decorating especially for the holidays.
Jean is survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery with Reverend Keith Brickell officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m., Friday before the service at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 72116 (501-791-7400).
After the service there will be a gathering for family and friends at the Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church, 9008 Hwy 107, Sherwood, AR 72120 or your favorite charity.
