This marker was placed at the Shiloh Buckner cemetery by descendants of John Martin Massey. It was placed as a memorial to honor his service in the 11th Arkansas Infantry of the Confederate States Army during the Civil War.The marker was placed beside Seleta Wallace the wife of John Martin Massey. Seleta later remarried and her last name is Simmons on her stone.
John is buried in a Confederate mound in the Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
