Rupert B. Sims, age 88, of Conway, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born October 9, 1916 in Greenbrier to the late Luther H. Sims and Gertrude Love Sims. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Chaney Sims and one sister, Clelia Blanchard. Mr. Sims graduated from the Arkansas State Teacher's College (now the University of Central Arkansas) and did graduate work at the University of Colorado. He was a former teacher for the Vilonia, Camden, and Dover High Schools, a retired administrator at Arkansas Rehabilitaton Service and was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, National Rehabilitation Administration Association, American Association of Retired Persons and life member of National Rehabilitation Association. He was a coach and supporter of the little league/pony league baseball programs in Conway for a number of years. He was a WWII Army veteran and member of East Side Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Rupert B. "Buddy" Sims II and wife Karen of Shreveport, LA; and one grandson, Kevin Sims of Las Vegas, NV. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Dr. Brad Hoshaw and Dr. Tom South officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway

Maxine Chaney Sims, age 83, of Conway, passed away Monday, December 6, 2004 at her home. Born January 26, 1921 in Augusta, AR to the late Horace R. Chaney and Johnnie Harris Chaney, she was the wife of the late Rupert B. Sims. Mrs. Sims attended Central Baptist College then transferred to the University of Central Arkansas. She was a retired secretary for the Conway Public Schools, a Kappa Kappa Iota (KKI), and member of the Arkansas Teacher's Association and Antioch Baptist Church in Conway. Survivors include her son, Rupert B. "Buddy" Sims II and wife Karen of Shreveport, LA; one grandson, Kevin Sims of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Horace Chaney, Jr. of McCrory, AR; and two sisters, Frances Chaney of McCrory and Virginia Williams of West Memphis.
