SPRINGDALE — Denise Renee Pellin, 40, of Springdale, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at her home. Denise was born on Oct. 18, 1972, in Springdale, the daughter of Danny Ray Pellin and Patricia Yvonne Hartman Pellin.

Denise was a devoted fourth-grade teacher at the Bernice Young Elementary School in Springdale. She was a graduate from the Springdale High School, earned her bachelor of science in education and health professions from the University of Arkansas, her master's of arts in teaching from the University of Arkansas, a master's in library science from Arkansas Tech and was a National Board Certified Teacher.

Denise was also active in her community by being a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member and past president of the Tontitown Historical Society, a board member of the St. Raphael Catholic School in Springdale and a member of the Springdale Alumni Association. She loved baking and reading.

Denise is survived by her parents, Danny and Pat Pellin of Fayetteville; maternal grandmother, Alma Hartman of Tontitown; one brother, Eric and wife, Abby Pellin, of Tontitown; one sister, Jackie and husband, George Whorton, of Springdale; one nephew, Jacob Williams; one niece, Anna Pellin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown on Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary service following starting at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. Father Greg Hart and Father John Connell will preside over the Mass with burial being held at the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.

Memorials may be made to the St. Raphael Catholic School in Springdale, the St. Joseph Building Fund in Tontitown; or to Autism Speaks.
