KERENS, James - James Kerens died Tuesday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock at his home a short distance southwest of town of cancer of the bladder. Mr. Kerens had been in ill health for some time and realizing that death was only a question of a short time, physicians performed an operation Tuesday morning in the hopes of affording relief, but the weakened condition of the patient could not rally from the shock. The remains were interred yesterday morning in the cemetery at Tontitown. Deceased was about 73 years of age and came to this locality about two years ago from Crawford County, purchasing a farm a short distance southwest of town where he has since resided. He was a member of the Catholic Church and an old Union soldier. He is survived by a widow and eight children, four sons and four daughters, only four of the children living at home, the others being grown and married, living at other points. Deceased was a brother of Hon. R.C. Kerens of St. Louis, United States Ambassador to Austria.
