James L. Byrd, 76, Rt. 2 Springdale, died June 19 in Madison County Hospital. Born Feb. 14, 1898 at Goshen, he was the son of William Jessee and Annie Lois Minor Byrd and a retired sawmill engineer.
Survivors include his wife,Mrs. Edna Anderson Byrd of the home; one brother, W. C. Byrd, Mayfield; four sisters, Mrs. Opal Gumm and Mrs. Margie Scates, Forum, Mrs. Fannie Clements, Norman, Okla., and Mrs. Tular Cox, Eureka, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Goshen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Fine officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

Memorial services for Mrs. Edna A. Byrd, 59, former resident of Springdale, were held Tuesday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bakersfield, Calif., with the Rev. Louis E. Fabrizius officiating. She died May 4 in Bakersfield. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Byrd was the widow of James L. Byrd of Springdale.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. V. Evangeline Wolowicz, Lancaster, Calif., and Mrs. Dorothy Newton, Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, H.W. Anderson, LaQuinta, Calif.
The body was returned to Arkansas and burial was in Goshen Cemetery.
