Rodney Michael Doherty of Magness, Arkansas
Rodney Michael Doherty, son of the late Dan Doherty and Violet Lucille Golden Doherty, was born September 14, 1943 in Elgin, Illinois. He departed this life March 19, 2016 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage to Sharon Lovelady on August 14, 2012. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. He served in the United States Army, receiving an Honorable Discharge just before the Vietnam War. For 50 + years he was a commercial truck driver. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Oil Trough United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon Doherty of the home; six children: Donna Lyons of Mobile, Alabama, Frank Doherty of Illinois, Dennis Doherty of Illinois, Dorraine Adams of Illinois, Brian Doherty of Jonesboro and Tony Doherty of Illinois; one stepson: Nic Bray of Mt. Pleasant, one sister: Nola Doherty of Dardnelle, Arkansas; numerous grandchildren; many great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Randy Doherty.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. His family will be holding a memorial service Friday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Oil Trough United Methodist Church with Clayton Bulice officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers: Lynn Pittman, Aris Norman, Joe Gould, Ray DeLarge, Chuck Curtis and Dale Moore.
