Noel Burgess, 76

Noel Franklin Burgess, son of the late Oscar Burgess and Beulah Lawrence Burgess, was born June 27, 1935 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life on July 29, 2011 in Calico Rock, at the age of 76 years, one month and two days. He was united in marriage to Irene Davis on November 10, 1936 in Calico Rock, Arkansas and to this union two children were born. Noel served in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his working years, he was employed at Hayes Brothers Flooring in Calico Rock. He retired after 30 years of employment. He was of the Assembly of God faith.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Barbara Burgess of Pineville; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and James Holt of Pineville; two brothers: Johnny Burgess and Jimmy Burgess both of Calico Rock; there sisters: Maxine Lynn of Mtn. Home, Melba Gillihan of Pineville and Marilyn Smith of Pineville: four grandchildren: Heaven Shattuck, Adrienne Sherwood, Johana Mayfield, and Ashley Moody; seven great grandchildren: Ethan Shattuck, Sunshine Vickery, Riley Speirs, Rhenne Mason, Blake Moody, Luke Moody and Konner Speirs; and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Irene Davis Burgess; one brother: Alvin Burgess and one sister: Opal Gilliham.

Funeral service was Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Calico Rock Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Vilitation will be Sunday, July 31 from 6-8 p.m.

Pallberars: Walter Boyd, Kirk Boyd, Mark Hayes, Charles Langston, Charles Townsend, Ronnie McClellan.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Hayes, Darrell Killian.
