July 1, 1894 - February 9, 1968
William Riley Baker, 73, of Strong, Route 1, died early Friday in an El Dorado hospital after a short illness. Born in Union County on July 1, 1894, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Baker and had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was a retired plumber and was a member of Union Methodist Church near Strong. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Georgia Eubanks Baker; four sons, Albert Baker of Gardenia, Calif. and Billie Baker, Cary Baker and Roy Baker, all of Odessa, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Marcelle Thomas and Mrs. Katie Lee Hurt, both of Odessa; and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Union Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Mann and the Rev. Claude Hall officiating. Burial will be in Teal Cemetery near Strong under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - February 9, 1968)
