Thomas Earl Upchurch, 72, of Conway died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011. Earl was born July 24, 1938 to the late Willie and Lucille (Smith) Upchurch. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Wayne and a grandson, Armand Brooks.

Mr. Upchurch served 10 years in the U.S. Navy, during both Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from CNA Insurance as a safety engineer consultant. He was of the Christian faith. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandchildren and faithful companion, Choo Choo, and gardening and taking care of his home.

Earl is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dixie Ann (Barnes) Upchurch of Conway; children Pamela Jean Upchurch of Mobile, Ala., Traci Harvey and husband Rick of Bigelow, and Philip Brooks and wife Rena of Mobile; sister Billie Jean Livingston of Thibodaux, La.; grandchildren Dylan Brooks (Brandi), Jaime Heflin (Robert), Jessi Baker (Jordan), Jenni Harvey, Jacqui Harvey, Joeli Harvey, Ricky Harvey, and Janssi Harvey; and great-grandchildren Macy and Preston Brooks and Andrew and Lexi Heflin.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Four Winds Church, with Jim Bob Baker and Rick Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Harvey, Robert Heflin, Jordan Baker, Johnny Upchurch, Dylan Brooks and Philip Brooks.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Dr., Conway, Ark., 72034, 501-327-5000.
