Cornelia Rebecca Scales, of Conway, a student of life and servant of God, Cornelia Rebecca Scales died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in Conway, Arkansas.
She was 100 years young.
Cornelia was born March 11, 1909 in McCrory, Woodruff County, Arkansas.
She was the daughter of the late Walter O. and Fannie Buster Scales and was the sister of the late Walter O. Scales, Jr., and the late Harold Clements Scales.
She was a graduate of Arkansas State Teacher's College, now the University of Central Arkansas. She graduated from Kidd-Key College in Sherman, Texas, a junior college for girls, which was later merged with Southern Methodist University.
She was a school teacher in Arkansas and in Illinois before graduating from Business School in Illinois. She spent the remainder of her working life as a secretary at Swift & Company's general office in Chicago. After retirement from Swift & Company, she lived in Conway, Arkansas.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She will be missed by her family and her friends at College Square Retirement Community, where she lived for 8 years. Cornelia had many wonderful friends all over the US that made her life rich and fulfilled.
Surviving Aunt Cornelia are a nephew, Monty A. Scales (Rebecca) of Ozark, Alabama, niece Krin Byrd (Richard) Canyon Lake, Texas, Grand nephew: John Kessinger (Marty) of Dallas, Oregon,
Grand nieces: SuAnn Scales Haupt (Murray) of Little Rock, Christy Scales Casillas (Robert) of Galloway, Ohio, Leslie Scales Dunn (Pete) of North Little Rock and Nancy Reinecke (Charlie) of Wimberley, TX, Great nephews: Johnny Kessinger and Andy Kessinger of Dallas, Oregon, Nick Barsotti (Laurie) of Little Rock and
Great Nieces: Lisa Smith, Wimberley, TX, Erin Kaiser of Maumelle, Elizabeth Stripling of North Little Rock and Lauren Casillas of Galloway, Ohio.
Services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Conway. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery.
